Craft Lovers ♥ Autumn Leaves neck warmer made with one ball of Azteca Milrayas by Ovejita Be!

3 November, 2016

We love the one ball, one neck warmer formula! If you do too keep reading because Teresa -the Craft Lover behind Ovejita Be!– is sharing the tutorial of how to knit her Autumn Leaves neck warmer with only one ball of Katia Azteca Milrayas. We encourage you to discover this sheep lover and to follow the complete pattern which shows how to knit with circular needles or straight ones if you prefer. Wrap your neck up in Autumn Leaves and share the results on Instagram with @ovejitabe and @katiayarns.

My name is Teresa and I´m “the crazy woman” behind Ovejita Be! I´m from Elche (Alicante), but I came to Barcelona to study Fine Arts and here I´ve stayed. From being a child I always liked to create things with my hands and to fill them with colour. When I was 7 years old my mother taught me how to knit garter stitch and as a result of this I knitted my first scarves. A few years ago I saw a Katia magazine on a newsstand and I started to knit and crochet other garments. I’ll try any pattern, with circular needles, with a crochet hook… and if I don’t know how to do something, I try it!

I love sheep, and together with my partner Miguel who is part of all this, we try and conserve the child we carry within us. Ovejita Be! started with a blog where I taught my creations made from felt. Over time the importance of the felt has given way to other materials. Last year I made my first rattle and cushion designs… and best of all: badges and mugs for knitters and crocheters.

Sample. Instead of making the usual 4×4” tension gauge, a sample is worked in a combination of the two stitches which will be used in the collar.

Cast on 34 sts and knit them in the following manner:

Rows 1 & 2: garter st

Row 3 and all following rows: K2, 5 sts wheat st, 20 sts leaf motif (following the instructions for working straight), 5 sts wheat st, K2 (repeat up to row 24). Repeat row 1 of the leaf motif (see instructions for sample worked straight).

Work 2 rows in garter st, bind (cast off) all sts.

The sample should measure approx. 7 ½”x4 ¾” (19×12 cm) without including the garter st edges.

Instructions. Cast on 91 sts. Join the ends to continue working in circular, taking care not to twist the sts, knitting the first and last sts together so there are a total of 90 sts. Place stitch marker just before the first stitch of the first round.

Work the first round in wheat st.

craft-lover-ovejita-be-02

Work as follows for the remaining rounds (= 49 rounds): 20 sts wheat st (place stitch marker = optional), 20 sts leaf motif, (place stitch marker = optional), 50 sts wheat st. Work two complete repetitions of the leaf motif (circular) + 1 extra repetition of round 1 of the motif. If the stitch markers have been used, slip them on every row.

Work a final round in wheat st, bind (cast off) all the stitches and fasten off all ends.
