Zero Waste sewing kit | Plastic-free sewing challenge

Discover the Zero Waste Kit, designed to help you reduce plastic use in your daily life with 11 simple sewing projects. This kit includes all the materials needed to take part in the Zero Waste Challenge, an initiative in collaboration with @nairamkitty. Through 5 video tutorials, she will share her experience and guide every step of the way to creating these sustainable projects.
The projects you’re going to be able to make are: a food cover, a cutlery cover and serviette, a bread bag, shopping bags, snack and sandwich bags. Look for our Sewing-Along Katia Fabrics Facebook group and join this Zero Waste Challenge SAL. You will receive support, guidance, and help in 6 languages: English, Spanish, French, Dutch, German, and Italian to complete the challenge. Every week, in the group, we share one of the projects with support videos.

What is a SAL?
A SAL (Sew-Along) means to follow the same sewing project at the same time as other people, during the same period of time. Which really means, “an online meeting point” where sewists from all over the world can meet; learn something new or a different way of working, for example, a sewing technique that you didn’t know; help other people to continue with their work thanks to your experience; but, above all, a SAL is sharing your time and your passion for sewing.

Materials included in the Zero Waste sewing Kit:
- 145 cm of Tuscan Mosaic poplin fabric
- 75 cm of Tuscan Dreams canvas fabric
- 50 x 40 cm of Eat & Sew food-grade plastic fabric
- 25 cm of Curled Cotton knit fabric
- 50 cm of white Velcro
- 2 m of white round elastic
- Label with a QR code to access the sewing patterns

You will find the sewing patterns by following the QR code on the box label. Downloading the patterns is as easy as scanning the QR code. You just need a QR code reader on your smartphone or tablet to open the link and download them. The sewing patterns are available in A4 PDF format to print on any printer.
