Keep your baby company with the Basilio mouse crochet safety blanket, a free pattern by @lossospechosos
Hi, I’m Juli, the creator behind the textile character brand @lossospechosos for the last 12 years. I learnt to crochet as an adult —although my grandmothers tried to teach me as a child— when I moved from Mexico to Buenos Aires, where I lived in front of a yarn store. Led by my curiosity, I took all sorts of classes: sewing, embroidery, dressmaking, etc. until I discovered that making crochet toys was quicker than making garments and extremely satisfying. This is why I share this free pattern of Basilio, a mouse that brings together safety blankets and amigurumis for babies. I hope you enjoy making this fun crochet safety blanket with your favorite color selection of Katia Missouri.
Crochet safety blanket
For almost a decade, I gave in-person crochet toy or amigurumi classes, mainly to adults. I had students in class for several years who’d make gifts or sometimes to sell, and some became mothers. At that time, the purpose of those toys and also my vision of them changed. That’s how I discovered safety blankets, a beautiful object that includes the traditional toy to give babies confidence and keep them company. If you’re looking for crochet safety blanket patterns, start with Basilio the mouse. If you’re reading this blog from Mexico, I invite you to join the Tejiendo Katia desde México Facebook group to get the Zanzi the zebra pattern.

Basilio, the mouse by @lossospechosos
This baby blanket with a cute amigurumi mouse is a very quick project that you can make while you watch your favorite series. Of course, the pompoms are optional and, regarding the color combination for Basilio the mouse, I suggest a calm color palette. As always, if you want to give it your personal touch, you have a vast range of different color combinations for your crochet safety blanket.
