Sew a mesh bag for toys with mesh fabric 🏖️
Summer is here, along with fun days at the beach. Keep your children’s toys organized with a mesh bag made with the 3D mesh fabric by Katia Fabrics. Today we’re sharing an easy-to-follow sewing video tutorial so that you can make this easy and practical bag in no time.

Learn how to sew a DIY mesh bag for the beach
✂️ Materials needed:
- 3D mesh fabric
- Polyripstop fabric for the straps and top edge
- Resistant thread
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Tape measure
- Pins
Steps to sew your 3D mesh bag:
1. Prepare the material:
- Cut a rectangle measuring 70 cm wide x 123 cm long of 3D mesh fabric.
- Cut two strips of Polyripstop fabric measuring 12 cm x 74 cm for the straps.
- Two pieces of Polyripstop fabric measuring 4 cm x 50 cm to finish off the top edge of the bag.
2. Shape the bag:
- Cut 10 cm at the top and 20 cm at the side, join these two notches forming a curve to shape the bag. Repeat on the other side.
- Make a 5-cm hem at the top of the mesh fabric to run the straps through.
3. Make the straps:
- Fold each strip for the straps with right sides facing each other and sew along the length of them.
- Turn the straps right side out and press.
4. Sew the sides of the bag:
- At the bottom of the bag, fold 12 cm inwards to add depth to the mesh bag.
- Sew the sides of the bag.
5. Finishing details:
- Insert the straps along each top edge of the mesh rectangle. Hold with clips and sew both ends.
- Turn the bag inside out.
- To finish off the top edges of the bag, sew the 4-cm wide strips to finish off that area.
- And voilà! Your 3D mesh bag is ready to take toys to the beach.
