Enjoy sewing these kids’ clothing patterns just in time for summer

Summer is basically around the corner and that means many things, one of them being that it’s likely your little ones have grown out of whatever they wore last summer (or they want to show off something new). Fortunately we’ve got 10 sewing patterns inspired by our best summer for children’s clothing ready for you to explore.

These patterns are for all ages, from 1 month to 12 years, and made from a range of Katia fabrics; from organic to recycled, muslin to poplin. Which one will you choose first?

Baby patterns (62cm to 80cm)

• Nothing says ‘summer ready’ like a cute short-sleeved dress. Sew your little one this adorable item with our Plumetti bicolour fabric. This blend of 80% cotton, 20% polyester is delicate and lightweight (making it ideal for dresses in the warmer seasons). And the dainty raised dots add a special something
  
  

• A one-piece with tie-up straps is perfect for babies. It’s comfortable, easy to take on and off, and our 100% cotton Seals balloon poplin fabric is wonderfully unique. The illustrations of seals and whales happily swimming around surrounded by charming floral designs is enough to put a smile on anyone’s face. 
  
  

• You can’t go wrong with a simple, classic t-shirt for summer. Meet a host of animals with our Jungle Heroes jersey fabric. As 95% cotton (and 5% elastane) this fabric is incredibly comfortable, which kids will love almost as much as the bright design and cheerful characters.

Little patterns (86cm to 104cm)

• This Swim Rhinos translucent waterproof fabric with its fun print is ideal for pieces like this cute raincoat. And while raincoats or waterproof jackets are not typically what you think of when you think of summer, rainy days can come anytime (and so can visits to the waterpark).
  
  

• A pretty, lightweight pashmina-style shawl is the perfect summer accessory, for those windy days on the beach or when sunny days turn into cool evenings. Our Sari Fluor fabric, with horizontal threads in a fluorescent coral pink, has a contemporary summer feel. It’s a woven fabric with a cotton base and a natural, slightly wrinkled appearance.

Kids patterns (116 cm to 152 cm)

• A Solid Colour Jersey fabric is a must-have for any season because of how comfortable it is and because you can pair it with all kinds of prints, designs and colours. Sew this casual tank top with stylish back knot detail in all of our solid jersey fabric colours. There’s 22 of them!
  

• Our Earth & Dreams Poplin fabric is one of our favourites. It’s 100% cotton so really breathable and comfortable, and the print is bright, fun, and playful., covered in tigers, antelopes and baboons roaming between tropical leaves. An amazing fabric to sew this special summer skirt.
