For enthusiasts of the fun and colorful granny square, there's a delightful surprise in store this fall! Delve into the art of crafting a beautiful mittens and cowl set adorned with mini granny squares. The cowl features a dual-purpose design, effortlessly transforming into a snug hat. This creative concept was designed and made by @yenkinsandyenkins, one of the finalist from the Katia Designers Awards 6. With numerous skilled participants showcasing their designs at the awards ceremony, we were truly inspired by her creativity. Today, we’ll be sharing her designs and how to crochet your own mini granny square set.
Meet @yenkinsandyenkins, a finaliset from Katia Designers Awards 6
Elena González Villafranca, also known as Leni, is the inspiring artist behind @yenkinsandyenkins on Instagram. Her roots in crafting trace back to her mother and grandmother, who ignited her passion for crocheting. As fate would have it, when she was in university, she happened to live above a yarn shop, and this amplified her joy and dedication to this art.
Mini Granny Squares Mittens and Cowl Set
For the Katia Designers Awards 6, Leni showcased her crochet creations, with the mini granny squares mittens and the convertible cowl-hat taking center stage. This vibrant cowl-hat creation offers both style and functionality. This cowl-hat is a 2-in-1 design, as the cowl can be turned into a hat very easily. To follow along and make this design, we recommend Katia Basic Merino yarn, which is the yarn Leni used since it is soft and warm.
